JcPenney has a new $10/$10 coupon that has been mailed to some customers. I received one and went today to see what I could find. Aiden is outgrowing all of his pajamas and is in need of a few new pair. I found a 3 piece set of Carter's pajamas on clearance for $11.99. Love that the set has both long pants and shorts that match the shirt. After the coupon, I paid just $1.99 plus sales tax for the pajamas. What a great price! Did anyone else receive this coupon? If so, what did you purchase?

Nursery Photos

The nursery is still a work in progress, but I've decided to go ahead and share a few photos. We still need to hang some art work on the walls and order an upholstered rocker for me to feed the baby. I am so pleased with the quality of Bassett Southport baby furniture and love the baby bedding from Pottery Barn Kids. Oh... one more thing...we've decided to name our baby girl Hadley Elizabeth. I'll share more photos once we complete the nursery.

After taking a much needed break from blogging, I wanted to stop in and say "hi" and let everyone know that I'm still alive. After trying to conceive for seven years, I'm thrilled to announce that I am pregnant with a baby girl and due October 10th. Words cannot begin to describe the excitement felt by me and my husband and our son, Aiden. We're busy preparing the nursery and I'll be posting pictures soon. I am enjoying every single moment of pregnancy and feel so incredibly blessed!

I've managed to snag some fabulous deals at Martin's this week and will be sharing them with you very soon. It's my hope to return to blogging on a more regular basis. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer as much as I am! :)

Frugal Tip: Make Brownie Bites at Home

My family loves brownie bites! For some reason I enjoy these so much more than brownies made in a 9 x 13 pan. I was first introduced to them years ago when purchasing a container of them in the bakery department of my local grocery store. The container contained only sixteen brownie bites and was priced at $4.49. A little high for something I could eat by myself in one sitting. lol :)

I'm much more frugal now and simply refuse to pay such a steep price. So, I've been making my own brownie bites at home. All you need is a mini muffin pan and box of brownie mix. Prepare the brownie mix as directed on the package and fill each muffin cup up with batter. I find it is best to grease the muffin cups to avoid the brownies sticking to the pan.

I am able to get approximately 30 brownie bites from one box. I've been using up the brownie mixes that I purchased HERE for .50 cents. For my investment of .50 cents, I am able to get twice as many brownie bites for a fraction of the cost.

Martin's has I Can't Believe It's Not Butter sticks on sale for $1.79 this week. I purchased two packages and used two $1.00/1 manufacturer coupons from the November 18, 2009 Red Plum insert. My out of pocket total was $1.58. I also received a catalina coupon for $2.00 off my next shopping order. After the catalina coupon, it was like getting two packages of butter sticks for free plus a profit of .42 cents. These will come in handy for my holiday baking and candy making.

There were an assortment of letters still in stock at the Martinsburg store. These will make great gifts for three friends! I made some chocolate covered pretzels for my neighbor's birthday yesterday and added a label, ribbon and scrapbook paper to embellish them. This picture does not do justice to them, but the lighting in my kitchen isn't very good and I was having trouble getting a good photo.

I have a question for everyone. How much do you think I could sell boxes of these for around the holidays? Each box would contain one dozen hand dipped pretzels and be decorated for the appropriate holiday. I dipped thousands of pretzels last year to give away as holiday gifts and really enjoy doing it. I'm wondering if this hobby could be turned into a little profit around the holidays.

Crockpot Broccoli Cheese Soup

This rainy weather makes me want to eat soup! I made Broccoli Cheese Soup a few days ago and thought I'd share this simple recipe with you. I love serving this soup with bread sticks and salad.

Ingredients:

2 boxes of frozen chopped broccoli, thawed

1 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed

10 3/4 can cream of celery soup

14 1/2 oz. can chicken broth

Directions:

Combine all ingredients in the crock pot and cook on low for 4-5 hours. Stir periodically.

I was able to use two of this coupon because of purchasing four Pepsi Max. After coupons, I paid $1.80 for six 2 liter bottles of Pepsi products--just .30 cents each! I'll be saving them for entertaining during the holiday season. Thinking ahead can really save you money.

Target is having another wonderful gift card promotion this week. Buy 5 qualifying Motts products and receive a $5.00 Target gift card.

Transaction 1: I purchased five 64 oz. bottles of Motts Apple Juice which was on sale for $1.75 per bottle. My total was $8.75. I paid with a $5.00 Target gift card earned from a previous promotion. My out of pocket balance was $3.75--just .75 cents per bottle. Plus, I earned another $5.00 gift card for purchasing five participating Motts products

Transaction 2: I purchased five packages of individual Motts Applesauce Cups. Each package was on sale for $1.75. My total for 30 cups of applesauce was $8.75. I paid with the $5.00 Target gift card earned in the above transaction. My out of pocket balance was $3.75--just .75 cents per package. I also earned another $5.00 Target gift card for purchasing five participating Motts products that I'll use on a future purchase.

In conclusion, I purchased five bottles of Motts Apple Juice and five packages of Motts Applesauce Cups today (between two transactions) and my grand total out of pocket was $7.50 plus sales tax! The best part about this deal is that NO coupons are required. Such an easy deal to execute.

CVS is running a wonderful promotion this week on select Proctor & Gamble products this week. If you purchase $25.00 in participating products, you earn $10.00 in Extra Care Bucks.

On Tuesday, I purchased four bottles of Tide laundry detergent ($6.00 each) and one bottle of Dawn ($1.00) to reach the required $25.00 total. Then, I used a $5.00/$25.00 coupon for taking the flu survey HERE. I also used four $1.00/1 manufacturer Tide coupons and one .20/1 coupon from the recent Proctor & Gamble insert. After coupons, my total was $15.80. I paid using a $10.00 Extra Care Buck and $5.80 on a CVS gift card that I received for transferring a prescription. And, I earned a $10.00 Extra Care Buck for purchasing $25.00 worth of participating Proctor & Gamble products. What a great deal!

I've been feeling crafty since my son began preschool and have enjoyed making the following items over the past few weeks:

Regular size and mini composition books covered in scrapbook paper and embellished with ribbon. A friend showed me how to make these and I was pleased with them. To make them a bargain, I used the free composition books from CVS last month. I'm planning to give as gifts to a few friends for Christmas and will personalize them with their initial.

Gable boxes that I began decorating last night. Each box contains jars of homemade pepper relish and salsa from my recent canning adventure. I have several friends with birthdays over the next few months and will giving these away as gifts.

So, I purchased eight cans (four in the first transaction and four in the second). All eight were FREE. They didn't even charge me sales tax!

I only feed dry dog food to my dog, Barkley. So, I'll be giving the dog food to my parents for their dog.
